About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Chef or Cook looking to optimise their work / life balance

 Youthworks Conference Centres is seeking a Chef or Cook for our team at Port Hacking, situated in the beautiful Royal National Park, just outside Sutherland. This permanent (fulltime or part time) role offers rostered shifts to service seven day a week operations. Your key role will be contributing to our guests satisfaction, through preparing meal items to required specifications and standards. As well as, but not limited to, helping keep the kitchen organised and running efficiently whilst ensuring proper food handling, sanitation and food storage procedures are followed.

  • Salary range $50K - $70K dependant on experience and qualifications

Your responsibilities

  • Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and catering equipment

  • Prepare ingredients / food for cooking and service in a timely manner

  • Ensure that food is prepared and delivered to service point(s) in a timely manner

  • Ensure that all food, stock items and additional items are stored correctly and safely

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

  • Accurately maintain and keep up to date relevant records as needed by Youthworks and industry standards   

You will need to demonstrate

  • Proven experience as a Chef or Cook

  • Catering or cooking qualifications

  • Hands on experience with various commercial kitchen equipment

  • Ability and availability to cover shifts Monday to Sunday to assist with seven-days-per-week operations

  • Ability to drive a manual vehicle, or willingness to learn

  • Proven knowledge of Industry and Safety Standards

  • A systematic and focused approach to tasks with a strong attention to detail

  • A strong work ethos and the ability to work with a wide range of staff to achieve effective outcomes

  • A willingness to work within an overtly Christian environment and with an Anglican organisation

What we would really like you to have:

  • A personal Christian faith

  • Food Safety Supervisor qualifications

Additional information

Current drivers licence and own transport are essential as there is no public transport anywhere near our Port Hacking Conference Centres.
